Snitch Review: Too Much Drama

I don't know about you guys but I expected this Snitch movie to be a simple minded action packed flick ... you know the kind that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson usually makes. To my surprise Snitch wasn’t it.

I don’t even know how to accept this movie because i was perfectly fine with the Rock making this mindless action films and most of them were ... fun. Snitch makes the Rock focus a lot more on his acting skills and less on his action abilities. Something that makes Snitch more of a drama film and less of an action flick.

The film is based on true story where the Rock is playing a regular manager that is forced to infiltrate a drug cartel in order to bring down one of its major leaders just so that the sneaky district attorney (Susan Sarandon) will do him a favor and release his teenage son that was caught transporting drugs by mistake.

I'm not somebody that likes watching dramas because most of the time they bore me to death, at times Snitch had the same affect on me. The movie was longer than expected, it was progressing very slowly towards its goal but still somehow managed to keep me interested. The acting by most of the major participants was believable and made the events look important and serious. I personally was expecting a big action scene in the end when I didn't get it I was conflicted once again. I didn’t sign up for this. I was expecting one thing and got something completely different.

Snitch is an OK movie the problem is that it’s not for everyone. If you are a hardcore action junky like me you will be slightly disappointed from Snitch. If you are more of a drama fan, I don’t really understand how you ended up watching a movie with the Rock in it; anyway I guess you would like Snitch. 

If after all you intend on watching Snitch you need to understand what exactly are you going to get from the movie. Don’t be like me and look only on the cover because whatever is inside is not as it seems to be.
